Conditions of illness

Most frequently asked questions and their answers on
‘Conditions of illness’

1. Place for your 1. Hemp and autoimmune diseases

Auto-immune diseases are one of the most common diseases and the common denominator is a weakened immune system. Unfortunately, all of these auto-immune diseases are largely treated on the principle of alleviating the consequences and not on eliminating the causes.

However, many medical studies show how important the endocannabinoid system and cannabinoids are in the elimination of the causes and the strengthening of the immune system.

Some of the most common auto-immune diseases are:
• Type 1 diabetes
• Hashimoto’s disease (thyroid)
• Basedow’s disease
• Inflammatory bowel diseases
• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Systemic lupus
• Psoriasis
• Celiac disease
• Vitiligo
• Connective tissue diseases
• Anemia
• Graves’ disease
• Sjogren’s syndrome
• Hair loss

Cannabinoids truly have an incredible potential. Cannabinoid receptors are integrated into all systems throughout the body, in immune cells, organs, tissues, and glands. These receptors affect each system and all cellular structures in the body.

Cannabinoids act strongly against inflammation and prevent excessive immune response, they also have pain-relieving and anti-oxidative properties.

2. Hemp and stress (burnout)

During this time, disruptive processes occur inside the bod, in particular, our endocannabinoid system is constantly depleted. As a result, our immune, nervous and other physical systems “crash”. Different health problems are given the opportunity to start causing day-to-day inconveniences and threaten us.
Prolonged exposure to stress at work often leads to insomnia, malaise, fatigue, irritability, various skin diseases, gastrointestinal problems and weight gain. Susceptibility to various infections is increased, allergies are intensified, auto-immune diseases are aggravated, because our life-support systems are weakened.

With the consumption of CBD, the secretion of hormone serotonin and melatonin increases in the body. Serotonin is a hormone of happiness or a natural antidepressant that calms us and prevents anxiety attacks. Melatonin is a sleep hormone; CBD affects the balanced excretion of this hormone, which leads to improvement of sleep quality. If we sum up: due to the increased excretion of both hormones, we will feel relaxed and in the evening we will easily fall asleep, and the body will get some quality sleep that is needed for regeneration.

3. Hemp and Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disease, which mostly occurs in adults aged 65 and older. It accounts for 60 percent of dementia cases. This neurological disorder occurs due to the loss of neurons and synapses in the brain, especially in the brain cortex.

Typical first sign of the disease is short-term memory problem. With the progression of the disease, other serious problems also begin to appear, such as:
•inability to create sentences,
•problems in choosing words during conversation,
•disorientation in time and space,
•rapid mood changes,
•lack of motivation,
•inability to take care of oneself,
•loss of learned behavior.

It discovered that the cause of Alzheimer’s disease is also strongly linked to our genetic code, as they estimate that over 70% of all cases of dementia are due to defects of different genes. The risk is also related to a diet with malnourished endocannabinoid system (cronic canabinoid deficiency), chronic stress and head injuries.

People with AD are recommended to take resin with high cannabidiol content, as this has positive effect on all of the abovementioned problems. CBD has neuroprotective as well as neuroregenerative and strong anti-inflammatory effect. In addition to CBD, positive effects on AD symptoms also come from cannabinoids found in the form of acids in resin and in ground hemp buds. Cannabinoids in acid form are labeled with the letter A: CBDA, THCA, CBGA, CBCA, and similar.

As with all chronic and severe illnesses, CBD dosage should be high. Choose a really high-quality product with a full range of cannabinoids, such as 30% CBD hemp resin Be Hempy.

4. Hemp and pain

Although hemp has been used to relieve pain for millennia, very few cannabinoids have been approved for treatment of pain or other health symptoms. CBD is an important phytocannabinoid, which has recently received a lot of attention. Unlike THC, it does not cause psychoactive effects, it has many positive pharmacological effects, including anti-anxiety, anti-epileptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic effects. In addition to a wide therapeutic spectrum, CBD is expected to alleviate some of the THC effects in the central nervous system.

A medicine for relieving pain is also registered, nabiximols (Sativex®), which is a natural cannabis extract mixed with of THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids, that should also be available to physicians in Slovenia very shortly.

As with all chronic and severe illnesses, CBD dosage should be higher when the pain is more severe. For treatment of sever pains, CBD is introduced in the form of resin or droplets that we ingest, but you can also use ointment with high hemp extract content and Canna Immortelle that acts on painful joints, skin or muscles.

5. Hemp and cancers

For several years, many studies have shown that hemp resin is one of the best options in the fight against cancer. It is widely believed that the resin should contain THC, since THC-free therapy is much less successful.

Exogenous cannabinoids, or phytocannabinoids, offer additional options for the so-called “natural” cancer treatment. Phytocannabinoids produce a number of very special effects specific to individual cannabinoid and nature of both normal and tumor cells. It has been found that cannabinoid receptors in tumors are more pronounced on the surface of cancer cells, and cannabinoids, by binding to them, ultimately cause programmed cell death (apoptosis) through the autophagy process in which cells begin to disintegrate by themselves.

Of course, some of the abovementioned systems are already used today by oncologists to extend survival time and quality of life of cancer patients; the so-called palliative care for pain reduction, side effects of chemotherapy and psychological well-being, and even less known effects which are rather uncontrolled from the pharmacological point of view.

With this process, malignant diseases partially change from fatal to manageable chronic diseases. But even if standard treatment succeeds in alleviating aggressive disease, oncologists rarely claim that the patient has healed completely.

Cancer patients, who use hemp themselves, use higher amounts of CBD; online information usually suggests between 60 and 180 mg daily, depending on the condition of the patient and the type of cancer.

6. Hemp and epilepsy in children

We how effectively hemp extracts prevent epileptic seizures. The majority of clinical studies has been done on children. One of them was also done in Slovenia. In most children, epilepsy has been cured or alleviated by hemp. However, the inclusion of phytocannabinoids in the treatment of epilepsy is exclusively within the domain of a pediatrician – epileptologist. Children, especially small ones, usually have difficulty ingesting hemp resin. That’s why we recommend La Perle, which is easier to ingest via the mouth due to taste and shape of the preparation (sweet beads). Suppositories are also suitable for small children, but you will most likely have to prepare them yourself, because they are not available on the Slovenian market. Never ingest phytocannabinoids and anti-epileptic medication without your doctor’s knowledge, because drug interactions can occur (see chapter Interaction). Medicines and hemp resin dosage need to be coordinated in order to avoid damaging side effects.
